The switches are controlled through an SPI interface. The SPI interface includes robust error detection features such as cyclic redundancy check (CRC), invalid read/write address detection, and serial clock (SCLK) count error detection. These CRC error detection capabilities enable the ADGS5412 Switches to be used in safety-critical systems. The SPI interface also eliminates the need for parallel conversion and logic traces and reduces general-purpose input/output (GPIO) channel count.
Designers can daisy-chain multiple Analog Device ADGS5412s together to configure multiple devices with a minimal amount of digital lines. ADGS5412's guaranteed break-before-make switching allows the use of the ADGS5412 in multiplexer configurations with external wiring.
